Colour: Deep, almost black, ruby red, which turns into garnet with the aging the wine. Aroma: Aromatically sensational, with notes of ripe fruit and hints of spice and vanilla transcended from the barriques. Taste: Potent, soft and velvety with a slightly bitter aftertaste. Serving suggestion: Pairs well with meat roasts, game and spicy cheese. Ageing potential: Approximately 20 years.
Wine Spectator
A sturdy, full-bodied red, with ripe plum, coffee and mineral. Very firm, oaky and a little unyielding for now, but should mellow out after a few years in bottle. Has a pretty texture. Best after 2008.
Score: 90. —James Suckling, February 29, 2008.All sizes are 750mL unless otherwise noted.
